Kasmiri Syahid

I intend to release photographs and details pertaining to some of the deceased militants from Kashmir who lost their lives in armed conflict with the Indian military.

As someone of Kashmiri heritage, I am deeply moved by the motivations of these individuals who left their families and children to fight, knowing they would not return. While I am unable to provide an exhaustive explanation, the incendiary talks and actions of some Indian people (litreally recording themselves calling for rapes of kashmiri women), along with the Indian government’s efforts to impose an overarching Indian identity on us, evoke intense emotion within me.

It is important to acknowledge that while we are governed by India, we also maintain a distinct cultural and historical identity. We are expected to overlook past atrocities and embrace patriotism, which creates a profound internal conflict.
