⚡️ Today (14/1/24), the president of the Maldives has ordered for all Indian troops to leave the island country by the 15th of March, 2024.

In recent history, India and the Maldives have had close relations, The Maldives even allowing for Indian troops to be stationed on their territory. Recently however, the people of the Maldives had grown increasingly discontent with the Indian presence and several protests took place. In the recent elections, the people voted for a Pro-China politician who had made it clear that pursuing closer relations with China rather than India would be better for them.
